Recently, I was diagnosed with a dense cataract in my right eye. Since my childhood, I have been suffering from pathological myopia in both eyes. According to Dr Zia Carrim, the high myopia is almost certainly the cause for me to develop a cataract at the relatively young age of 45. Initially, I was feeling nervous and apprehensive about the risk associated with the surgery particularly for a dense cataract in pathologically myopic eye but when Dr Zia Carrim discussed my conditions with me as well as my treatment options I was greatly relieved. I was deeply impressed by his intelligence, determination and confidence. I especially loved how he took time answering all my questions and ensuring that I was well acquainted with all stages in the surgical process. The eye clinic is fully equipped with modern and advanced equipment to diagnose and treat patients. All support staff working at the eye clinic are qualified, well trained and very dedicated. I first saw Zia when I had a vitreous bleed and retinal tears in my right eye. He treated this with laser at the Eye clinic and my vision recovered completely. Subsequently I saw him for poor vision in my left eye which was due to Asteroid hyalosis and cataract. The former is a condition where something like a web stretches across the posterior chamber of the eye, with strange white deposits which makes you feel that you are looking through a dirty windscreen. Driving at night became a nightmare so had to have a driver, after dark, to drive me in the evenings. Zia performed a vitrectomy and cataract operation, as a combined procedure. This is a long and tedious procedure which requires great dexterity and even more patience, which I only realized when he showed me the video of my operation the following day. There was a membrane stretching across the vitreous chamber which looked like it had the Milky Way in it. That's why it is called Asteroid !! I am a surgeon and realized how difficult the procedure was when I saw the video. Hats off to Zia, for his patience and skills. I was back to operating on my patients one week after the operation! My vision is near perfect four weeks post operatively and have no hesitation driving at night. The staff at the Eye Clinic have always been supportive and courteous, and I would recommend The Eye Clinic to anyone requiring eye surgery. However i must add that my experience at Wellkin was appalling. The Day Ward was claustrophobic, and the staff impersonal with a poor bedside manner. If you have the option I would suggest you ask for a private room. I insisted to be moved out of the Day Ward post operatively. Finally, the report given to me, within hours, after the surgery was detailed, descriptive and reassuring. Well done Zia, keep up the standards and your good work.

I had eye surgery in both my eyes (one eye with cataract) by Dr. Zia Carrim at one go. At first, I was hesitant to go through with the surgery. However after speaking with Dr. Carrim and listening to his sound advice, I was convinced to do the surgery. Dr. Carrim is very professional and explains very well the subjects. I must also say that the equipment at his Port louis facility is top notch to world class standards. Both his staff members namely Nedjema and Raawiyah have been very helpful and offered me a very good service. I opted for a Clear Lens Extraction surgery and now my vision quality is unbelievable. I would highly recommend Dr. Zia Carrim to anyone looking for an expert advice on their vision or to conduct a cataract surgery. Abi Sennik

As the James Webb Space Telescope gets a clearer view of the universe, I opened my eyes to a clearer world. I had my cataract surgery for both eyes done by Dr Zia. Initially I was hesitating but Dr Zia patiently unhurriedly explained to me all the benefits for having the surgery. He is attentive to all minute details, on admission you are gifted with a branded (the eye clinic, home of Retinologist) tee-shirt, eye pad and cloth bag. During surgery he explains the steps he is doing and the surgery itself is painless. Being a Medical Practitioner myself, I learned a lot from him on the latest technologies and human relationship. He forwarded me a 4K recording of my surgery and I was amazed by his dexterity, confidence and intelligence. He makes good use of the Social Media. His staff is well trained and excellent. I highly recommend Dr Zia and wish him Good Luck. Thank You

Before getting consulted for my cataract surgery, I had so much fear as it was my first surgery ever. After my first visit at The Eye Clinic and after being consulted by Dr Carrim and his amazing staff, I had a deep sense of relief. Dr Carrim answered all my queries and I was so much more uplifted and ready to have my surgery as soon as possible. What I will never forget about my whole cataract experience was that Dr Carrim was never in a rush during the appointments. He made sure that I had a global idea of what the different stages of the surgery meant and assured that I had all the answers before concluding. After the surgery itself, I experienced no pain at all and recovery was quick and easy. I would solidly recommend any person to The Eye Clinic and to Dr Zia Carrim.
